What is the Christmas Housewalk?
The Christmas in Park Ridge Housewalk is a Park Ridge holiday tradition ~ setting the stage for the holidays in our community for over 30 years. Four gracious and gorgeously appointed homes in fully festive holiday décor open their doors to 300 – 600 guests to benefit Maine Center, the only licensed not-for-profit community mental health agency providing therapeutic services to over 3,000 individuals ages 3 to 90 annually in the greater northwest Chicago suburbs.
Tickets are $25 per person and an after-party will be held at Raffia in Uptown Park Ridge.
Who is Maine Center?
Maine Center has been a part of Park Ridge for close to 50 years. Their professionals provide mental health and substance abuse services to thousands of clients who, in many cases, have few other options for this critical treatment. Not surprisingly, the economy has been devastating to their ability to raise funds to keep their services going. That's where PRCW comes in!
How can PRCW members help?
• Serve on the PRCW Housewalk Event Committee
• Distribute yard signs to publicize the event
• Stuff/label envelopes to prospective sponsors (excellent way for kids to earn service hours)
• Serve as a docent in a featured home ~ 2 hour shifts (there is a volunteer in EVERY room to ensure security of the homeowner's belongings)
• Work with Park Ride musical education and ministry leaders to identify and schedule Park Ridge children with musical ability to play festive music for an hour at one of the homes
• Contribute raffle items or services
• Suggest (or secure) a potential event sponsor
• Assist with the after-party at Raffia
Please put the date on your calendar, and start thinking of ways you can contribute.
Lastly, please know how very grateful the people of Maine Center are to have this help. It will be worth every minute of your time.
